Renovation of a library in Palatine, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.

Board of Library Trustees of the Palatine Public Library District; Cook County, Illinois that sealed bids will be received for the interior renovation, moving, and furniture of the Main Library Branch. This Invitation to Bid applies to the following Bid Packages: BP#1 - Interior Renovation BP#2 - Moving BP #3 - Furniture The project consists of three bid packages covering interior renovation, moving and furniture. Bid Package #1 - Interior Renovation work consists of phased renovation of the interior public spaces of the building including finishes, heat pumps, plumbing, lighting, power, and low voltage systems; construction of a new second entrance into the building; site work associated with the second entrance; and coordination with other Owner's other contracts for the relocation, reuse, and replacement of existing or new furniture and equipment. Bid Package #2 - Moving includes moving of existing furniture in multiple construction phases and to facilitate carpet replacement. Bid Package #3 - Furniture work includes supply and installation of furniture. The Library's polices related to COVID 19 and any prevailing State directives or recommendations will be observed by any party entering the building. All bids offered must be accompanied by a bid bond, cash or certified check made payable to Palatine Public Library District in the amount of not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid, including alternates, as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted a contract will be entered into and the performance of the contract is properly secured. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the bids without the consent of the Palatine Public Library District for a period of sixty days after the scheduled time of opening the bids. The successful bidder for the project will also be required to file a performance bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the accepted bid with sureties to be approved by the Palatine Public Library District and authorized to do business in Illinois, which performance bonds shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of the work specified in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore, according to the time and terms and conditions of the contract; and also that the bidder/contractor shall properly pay all debts incurred by the Contractor in the execution of the work, including those for labor and materials furnished. The successful bidder for the project will also be required to file a payment bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the accepted bid with sureties to be approved by the Palatine Public Library District and authorized to do business in Illinois, which payment bond shall be conditioned upon payment as required by law for all persons supplying labor and material in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. The successful bidder must comply with all applicable Federal, State and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations including but not limited to: the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1 et seq.) and the Illinois Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq.). All bidders must provide with their bids an executed Certification of Eligibility to Enter into Public Contracts pursuant to the Illinois Criminal Code (720 ILCS 55/33E-11). The Contractor is required to furnish sufficient insurance and guaranty and indemnity to the Board of Library Trustees of the Palatine Public Library District covering the officers, agents, employees and volunteers of the Board and the Library District against any and all claims which might arise for damages to persons and/or property due to the negligence of the Contractor or Subcontractors or their officers, agents, employees or servants, during the construction of the said improvements and until the said improvements have been finally accepted as complete by the Board of Library Trustees. Execution of the Contract by the Board of Library Trustees is contingent upon receipt of required bonds and certificates of insurance. The lowest bid will be determined by the amount of the Base Bid alone or in combination with either or both Alternate Bids as may be selected by the Board of Library Trustees. The right to waive technicalities, irregularities, and informalities, or to reject any and all bids is reserved by the Board of Library Trustees.
