Location: Millbury Project Type: Bridge - Construction MassDOT - Superstructure Replacement and Related Work Bridge Number M-22-038 (Steel) Along a Section of Interstate 90 at Interchange 11 The participation goals for this project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women. All work under this Contract shall be done in conformance with the 2020 Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, the Supplemental Specifications contained in this book, the 2017 Construction Standard Details, the Traffic Management Plans and Detail Drawings, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2015 Overhead Signal Structure and Foundation Standard Drawings, the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; The American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions. Work under this Contract consists of the superstructure replacement of the I-90 Interchange 11 Bridge (MassDOT Bridge No. M-22-038) which carries Ramps A and B over I-90 in the Town of Millbury. The work includes the complete replacement of the existing four-span superstructure with a two-span continuous steel plate girder bridge. The work includes the partial replacement of the existing substructure with the demolition of the existing abutments and partial demolition of the existing North and South Piers. The new superstructure will be founded on two (2) new reinforced concrete abutments and the existing center pier, which will be reused and modified to support the new superstructure. The new abutments will be placed between the existing abutments and the two (2) existing first interior piers, increasing horizontal clearance under the bridge. The minimum vertical clearance over I-90 will be increased to 16'-6" by raising the I-90 Interchange 11 ramp profile. Approach roadways will be paved and a new concrete median and approach guardrail will be installed. I-90 Eastbound and Westbound will be milled and overlaid and a section of the existing concrete median barrier will be removed and replaced in the vicinity of the bridge as shown on the Plans. The existing highway lighting along all four (4) I-90 Interchange 11 ramps will also be replaced as shown on the Plans. There will also be minor drainage work included. The Contractor shall satisfy themselves by their own investigation and research as to conditions and measurements affecting the work to be done and shall make their bid in sole reliance thereon.
