The City of West Haven (the City) is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the Cove River Tide Gate Reconstruction. The project is located in West Haven at Cove River where Ocean Avenue changes name to Captain Thomas Boulevard, and seeks to replace deteriorated tide gates and a pedestrian bridge. The existing flap gates will be replaced with a combination of stainless steel flap gates and self regulating tide gates (SRT), and the existing pedestrian bridge will be replaced with a prefabricated steel-truss pedestrian bridge with concrete deck. Work items include, but are not limited to: traffic control, pollution control, water handling, clearing and grubbing, existing structures removal, earthwork, installation of new structures, seeding and mulching. Unconfined work within Cove River or which could affect water quality shall be completed between the dates of June 1 and September 30, 2020 and/or in accordance with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Flood Management Certification permit.
