This project includes the installation of 2 bridges on the floodplain of the Sacramento River, south of Cypress Avenue in the Henderson Open Space. The North Bridge will be 80-feet long and 12-feet wide to accommodate maintenance vehicle access. The South Bridge is intended for pedestrian access only and is 80-feet long and 8-feet wide. The bridges will provide vehicle and pedestrian access in the park after an off-channel slamonid habitat restoration project (to be constructed under a separate contract) is implemented. Construction activities include driving steel piles to support the bridge abutments, casting in place concrete abutments and wingwalls, installing earthen filled bridge approach ramps, excavating side channel subeaches passing through the bridges, installing scour protection, and installation of prefabricated bridges that are designed by the Contractor. Contractor shall also be responsible for clearing and grubbing vegetation within the project limits shown on the plans, tree trimming to accommodate equipment access on existing access roads, and relocating historic bridge piers. Contractor will also need to coordinate bridge construction activities concurrent with the habitat restoration construction activities, which will be responsible for initial site access and staging, constructing a majority of the side channel, sorting excavated material into size classes to be used by both projects, and planting riparian vegetation. The Contractor shall possess a valid Class A license at the time bid is opened. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code Section 1725.5. Failure to register prior to bid opening shall cause the bid to be deemed non-responsive and no exception will be allowed including the renewal exception allowed in Labor Code Section 1725.5 (c). No contractor or subcontractor may work on a public works project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. Each bid shall be made in accordance with the specifications and proposal requirements thereof and no bid will be received unless it is made on a proposal form furnished by the City Engineer. Each bid must be accompanied by cash, certified or cashier's check, or original bidder's bond made payable to the City of Redding for an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid as a guarantee that the contractor will execute the contract in conformance with his proposal and the specifications. Such guarantee shall be forfeited should the bidder to whom the contract is awarded fail to enter into the contract. The City of Redding hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, all businesses will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, national origin, gender, disability, or other protected class in consideration for an award.
