BID #22-028T, 2021-11 The work included under this contract shall be conducted at Compo Mill Cove in the Town of Westport, on the existing tide gates and public walkways that are adjacent to Sherwood Millpond and Long Island Sound. All work shall be coordinated or scheduled so as to keep the schedule of the work as continuous as possible. Any construction easements and rights-of way shall be acquired by the Town if required. Contractor shall demolish and re-build the seawalls including but not limited to S&E controls, excavation, stone removal, stone, subbase, geotextile, backfill, masonry, etc. the Contractor shall repair mortared stone walls including but not limited to chinking, patching, repointing, etc. The Contractor shall replace and/or repair as indicated on the Construction Drawings; the pier, spillway, walkways, tide gates, seawall, as well as restore areas harmed by the contractor as part of this work to in kind or better condition. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, equipment, appliances, and materials as required, shown on the Contract Drawings, if applicable, and described in these specifications. The principal items of Work are as follows: A. The Contractor shall replace and/or repair as indicated on the Construction Drawings; the pier, spillway, walkways, tide gates, seawall, as well as restore areas harmed by the contractor as part of this work to in kind or better condition. Questions in regards to the bid shall be submitted in writing to rkotchko@westportct.gov by November 10th. Restoration is divided into seven categories: 1. Timber Pier: Demolish existing pile supported timber pier and replace with new pile supported timber pier. 2. Spillway & Timber Ramp: Selectively demolish existing spillway slab and timber ramp and replace with new concrete slab and timber ramp. 3. West Tide Gate Repair: Selectively demolish components indicated on Construction Drawings and furnish/install/repair items as specified. 4. Walkway Replacement: Selectively demolish existing walkway between tide gates and replace with new concrete walkway with timber guardrail. 5. East Tide Gate Repair: Selectively demolish components indicated on Construction Drawings and furnish/install/repair items as specified. 6. Stone filled Pier Repair: Selectively demolish existing stone filled pier slab and guardrail and replace with new concrete slab and timber guardrail. Chink, patch and repoint mortared stone pier walls. 7. Seawall Repairs: Selectively demolish and re-build 68'+/- of existing stone seawall and chink, patch and repoint 299'+/- of stone seawall. The Town of Westport reserves the right to waive any defects and informalities in the bidding or in any bid, to reject any or all bids for any reason whatsoever, and to accept that bid deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Westport.
