Demolition, site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Olathe, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
The Olathe Transfer Station is used to consolidate the waste that is collected from residential, commercial dumpster, commercial roll-off and other City Department customers. It also accepts waste (trash, bulk waste and C&D) from the general public including private haulers, City of Olathe residents and businesses and non-Olathe residents and businesses. The recently completed Solid Waste Master Plan states that we will need to expand the Olathe Transfer Station and have in operation in 2027 to continue to meet the needs of our internal and external customers. Recently, the 2027 deadline was moved up two years due to vendor agreements and operational concerns. As of February 7, 2024, this project is in the design phase. A design firm has been selected for the project. Bidding is estimated to take place in April/May of 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
