Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Kingston, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
As of March 31, 2023, this project is under construction. A contractor has been selected but not confirmed. A firm timeline for construction completion has not been established. The closed solicitation has been included below for reference. The McKinstry Bridge (BIN 3347450) is a 135-foot span steel truss bridge founded on concrete abutments originally constructed in 1941 with improvements in 1994. The bridge was closed to all traffic in August 2020 due to severe deterioration. This project intents to replace the McKinstry Bridge superstructure and substructures. The new structure shall be a redundant plate girder or prestressed girder superstructure on new reinforced concrete abutments founded on rock or deep foundations. The new structure shall also have an increased span and/or be raised to set the superstructure above the 100-year flood elevation. The project deliverables will entail a design of the McKinstry Bridge for a replacement project which incorporates the all associated elements along with construction plans, specifications and estimates. Construction inspection services will also be included in this project, but may be added as a supplemental contract upon Ulster County's request.
