Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in Normal, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a educational facility.
The current University High School building was constructed in 1965 and houses the University’s laboratory school for ninth through twelfth grades. The facility is outdated and aging, and the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems are in need of replacement. Its geographic location on the campus is problematic with poor vehicular access to the building and less than adequate outdoor space. This project provides for the construction of a modern laboratory school to meet the 21st century requirements. This project is recommended in the Master Plan Update 2010-2030. As of October 17, 2022, this project is included in the Illinois State University's Approved FY 2023 Operating Budget and is planned for the FY 2024 Capital Request. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
