Christiansburg High School is located at 100 Independence Blvd, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The school opened in 1973. Over time, additions have been made to allow for specific programs. The school has reached the stage where projected enrollments necessitate the need for additional classrooms. The size requirements for classrooms today will require renovations and additions to the current building. In addition, the school anticipates the construction of a new detached competition gym to include an indoor track, a new classroom wing, Cafeteria, relocated kitchen/dining area, and a new administrative area. MCPS is seeking a qualified construction management firms to participate in a team as part ofthis construction manager at risk contract with the goal of providing an innovative, energy efficient, high-quality and quick-paced new high school campus at the Christiansburg High School in alignment with VDOEs most current capacity and space standards. The failing conditions ofthe existing Christiansburg High School campus, significant overcrowding and educational inadequacy ofthe building have led MCPS to the decision to upgrade the school. At the completion ofthis effort, MCPS expects a new school facility with a modernized learning environment incorporating universal design and accessibility features for approximately!400 high school age students, grades 9 through 12.
