Renovation of a military facility in Nepean, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
The project intent is to engage a consultant to bring to completion the comprehensive review of the existing conditions for the purpose of addressing the high LUX level in open office space throughout Building 3. The lighting design was addressed during the MCP project, however higher than expected LUX levels were achieved. The levels currently exceed the recommended levels specified by Workplace 2.0, and as a result the client is receiving complaints from users with light sensitivity issues. The exercise here is to remedy this problem through lighting control integration measures. This will in turn reduce the current LUX levels, and allow the building operators to adjust the light levels in defined sectors within a given floorplate. Thus allowing the ability to make corrections where necessary to accommodate various client requests. The lighting control integration system would also allow cost saving measures to be implemented by means of energy harvesting. This would allow lights bordering windows and skylights to self-dim based on the overall LUX readings in those areas.
