2020 Walkable Streets Program for Sidewalk Construction on Capen Street in Dorchester & other various streets in the City of Boston. The work to be done under this contract shall consist of making repairs to existing brick, Portland cement concrete and bituminous sidewalks and driveways, resetting of edgestone, installation of new edgestone, and construction of pedestrian ramps. The pedestrian ramp operation shall consist of constructing pedestrian ramps that comply with all American with Disability Act (ADA) and Massachusetts Architectural Access Board (MAAB) requirements. Locations and dimensions of the ramps will be directed by the Engineer. Locations: Ashmont Street from Adams St to Dorchester Ave Bourneside Street from Geneva Ave to Melville Ave Capen Street from Norfolk St to Selden St Melville Avenue from Washington St to Dorchester Ave Silloway Street from Mather St to Melville Ave Following the awarding of the Contract, on a date to be announced, a preconstruction conference will be held. At this conference, the Contractor will be required to submit a Preliminary Work Plan detailing the schedule of operations for the first month of construction activities and a corresponding Traffic Management Plan. A Preliminary Work Plan and Traffic Management Plan for the next month will be due on the 21st of each month for the duration of the contract. All work shall be performed Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM on residential streets and from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM on arterial streets, unless indicated otherwise in Sections 2.2 or 2.3, or as determined by the Commissioner and/or the Boston Transportation Department. Contractors may propose alternative working hours at each Location of Work for consideration by the Department.
