Demolition, site work and addition to a power facility in Atlin, British Columbia. Working plans call for the addition of a power facility.
Construction and operation of two hydro power plants on Pine Creek, plus associated infrastructure, and roadworks. The expansion project is comprised of a new 9.2-megawatt hydroelectric facility and 93-kilometer transmission line to deliver clean power to the isolated Yukon microgrid. The additional generated power is intended to be sold to the Yukon. TIMELINE: Project needs the be in Yukon government top priority so it can secure $86.4 million to close a funding gap. Design is ongoing. The electricity purchase agreement is subject to a review by the Yukon Utilities Board, ongoing consultation with First Nations in the area, approvals from TRTFN government and Yukon government as well as all government grant funding and project permits in place. The proposed project could break ground in late 2025. Further update may be available in fall, 2025. *In February, Yukon Energy signed an agreement with Tlingit Homeland Energy Limited Partnership (THELP) to buy electricity from the expansion.
