Construction and operation of two hydro power plants on Pine Creek, plus associated infrastructure, and roadworks. The expansion project is comprised of a new 9.2-megawatt hydroelectric facility and 93-kilometer transmission line to deliver clean power to the isolated Yukon microgrid. The additional generated power is intended to be sold to the Yukon. TIMELINE: Project leaders are working to secure funding to begin construction by summer 2026. Design is ongoing. The electricity purchase agreement is subject to a review by the Yukon Utilities Board, ongoing consultation with First Nations in the area, approvals from TRTFN government and Yukon government as well as all government grant funding and project permits in place. Further update may be available in late summer, 2026. *In February, Yukon Energy signed an agreement with Tlingit Homeland Energy Limited Partnership (THELP) to buy electricity from the expansion.
