The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 327 Units of clearing and grubbing, 0.4 acre Clearing and grubbing, 7935 CY of excavation of Class 10 waste, 1000 LF subdrain - drilled drains, 1100 SY of pavement removal, 1100 SY of 6" HMA pavement, 160.1 SY of recreational trail removal, 160.1 SY of 6" PCC or HMA non-reinforced recreational trail, 1.00 LS temporary traffic control, 500 LF of safety fence, 0.15 acre Type 1 permanent lawn hydraulic seeding, fertilizing, and mulching, 0.10 acre Type 2 non-mowed hydraulic seeding, fertilizing, and mulching, 0.45 acre type golf course hydraulic seeding, fertilizing and mulching, 1.15 acre pneumatic seeding, fertilizing, and mulching, 1.00 LS watering, 1250 LF wattles, 154.8 ton stabilized construction entrance, 605.0 SQ Type 4 turf reinforcement mat, 420 LF wooden fence, construction survey, mobilization, 120 SY temporary granular sidewalk, and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. The contractor shall not include sales or use taxes in the bid. Pursuant to the Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code, the contractor will be authorized to purchase building materials that will be incorporated into real property on this project tax-free. Iowa Construction Sales Tax Exemption Certificates will be issued by the City, which will authorize suppliers of building materials to sell materials exempt from Iowa sales tax and any applicable local option sales tax and school infrastructure local option sales tax to the entity listed on the certificate. Upon award of the contract, the successful contractor will be required to provide their project information, and information for each subcontractor and supplier requiring exemption certificates. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provisions grown, and coal produced, within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes.
