Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in New Westminster, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 338,000-square-foot, 20-story above grade, 244-unit, 369-bed educational facility.
Construction of a new Academic Building, and a bed Student Housing Building. The proposal calls for a development of a 20-storey academic and student housing building at 808 Royal Avenue. A total of 11 stores of academic space plus 244 student housing units are proposed. The development would provide 54 off-street parking stalls and 105 long-term and 18 short-term bicycle parking spaces. Students and staff would also have access to the Colleges existing off-site parking facilities. TIMELINE: Demolition started the week of December 18th , 2023, and excavation started in late January 2024. Trade pre-qualifications for each Trade Package are being posted to BC Bid under Douglas College then moving to tender with Graham Construction managing this process. The $292.5-million project received $202.3 million in provincial funding, while Douglas College provided $90.2 million. *The project will aim to achieve BC Energy Step Code 4, LEED Gold BD+C certification, and zero-carbon certification.
