Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Sturgis, Michigan. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

Removal of 2 bridges on Klinger Lake Road over Sherman Mill Creek and replacement with 23' x 5' Prestressed concrete Box Culvert SN 10311. The proposed project will be closed to through traffic. The detour including signing is shown in the project plans. In addition to the signs and barricades on the detour route, signs and barricades shall be placed at both ends of the project to keep traffic out of the work area. The traffic maintenance shall be in accordance with Sections 104.07, 104.11, and 812 of the Standard Specifications for Construction, the MDOT Maintaining Traffic Typicals, and as herein specified. Local traffic shall be maintained at all times, and property owners and emergency vehicles shall be assured of access to their property. The St. Joseph County Road Commission will maintain the surface of the detour route. This work consists of placing and compacting an aggregate surface course on a prepared base. The work must be done in accordance with Michigan Department of Transportation 2012 Standard Specifications for Construction section 307 of the Standard Specifications for Construction. This work consists of removing and salvaging the metal driveway gate without damaging the material, carefully storing all components and reinstalling at the location shown on the plans. The work must be done in accordance with section 808 of the Standard Specifications for Construction.
