Project consists of the demolition of an existing structure, site preparation and construction of the new Bladensburg Bus Operations and Maintenance facility. The new facility will have the capacity to service a fleet of 250 WMATA transit vehicles, including articulated buses, and will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility is designed to provide bus maintenance, repair, paint, operations and fuel and wash services. Unique aspects of the project include Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) systems and provisions to accommodate future bus technology for the use of clean diesel, hybrid electrical diesel and battery electric buses (BEB). As of December 9, 2021, this project received Notice to Proceed July 2021 and is under construction. Prequalification for this project is required to obtain bidding information and bid documents.
