Demolition, site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Fremont, California. Completed plans call for the demolition of a swimming pool; for the renovation of a swimming pool; and for site work for a swimming pool.
The project scope consists of mobilization, maintenance of traffic and access, general demolition of existing pool plastering and selected pool entry stairs and handrails at selected locations, modification of those selected entry stairs ("to Alameda County Public Health Department Code") including extending top stair width, removal and relocation of existing stair lights and entry handrails as needed, installation of pool plaster surfacing, removal and repair of damaged waterline tile as needed, restriping of lap pool, , and other such items or details that are required per plans, standard specifications and these special provisions. Contractor shall obtain a safety permit from Alameda County Public Health Department prior to commencement of any work. All workmanship, equipment, and materials shall conform to ACHD standards and specifications. All fees, submittals and permits are the responsibility of the Contractor. License. This Project requires a valid California contractor's license for the following classification(s): "C-53" - Swimming Pool Contractor. Contractors bidding as a joint venture must secure a joint venture license prior to award of the Contract for the Project. DIR Registration. City may not accept a Bid Proposal from, or enter into the Contract with, a bidder without proof that the bidder is registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR") to perform public work under Labor Code Section 1725.5, subject to limited legal exceptions. Subcontractors must also be registered with the DIR. See #9 "Subcontractor List". Bid Proposal Form. Each bid must be submitted using the Bid Proposal form provided with the Contract Documents. Bid Security. The Bid Proposal must be accompanied by bid security of ten percent of the maximum bid amount, in the form of a cashier's or certified check made payable to City, or a bid bond executed by a surety licensed to do business in the State of California on the Bid Bond form included with the Contract Documents. The bid security must guarantee that, upon award of the bid, the successful bidder will execute the Contract and submit the payment and performance bonds, the insurance certificates, and the other documentation required by the Contract Documents, within ten days after City's issuance of the Notice of Award. The successful bidder will be required to provide performance and payment bonds, each for 100% of the Contract Price. Each Subcontractor must be registered with the DIR to perform work on public projects. Each bidder must submit a completed Subcontractor List form with its Bid Proposal, including the name, location of the place of business, California contractor license number, DIR registration number, and portion of the Work (based on the Base Bid) for each Subcontractor that will perform work or service, or fabricate or install work, for the prime contractor in excess of one-half of 1% of the bid price, using the Subcontractor List form included with the Contract Documents. Percentage. The percentage of retention that will be withheld from progress payments is 5%.
