Site work and paving for a road / highway in Islip, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The work will consist of providing all labor, materials, machinery, tools, and equipment necessary to perform WZTC on Sunrise Highway (NY 27), Suffolk County in the State of New York. The WZTC is required for KC and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) personnel, or their authorized designee, to safely survey approximately four (4) miles of the highway corridor in the Town of Islip between Heckscher State Parkway to the west and Smithtown Avenue to the east, westbound and eastbound, including the Sunrise Highway north and south service roads. WZTC will also be required for two additional areas, both being portions of Montauk Highway (NY 27A): 1) approximately 0.5 miles of the NY 27A (Montauk Highway) corridor running southwesterly from the westerly intersection of NY 27A with NY27 to the intersection of NY 27A with Wheeler Road 2) approximately 0.3 miles of the Montauk Highway corridor running southeasterly from the easterly intersection of Montauk Highway with NY27 to the intersection of Montauk Highway with Idle Hour Boulevard. Work shall be performed as described and in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) – 2009 and the New York State Supplement with all applicable revisions and the NYSDOT Standard Specification Section 619 (Work Zone Traffic Control): All rates shall be given for full day’s mobilization. Payment for full days with multiple bid item set-ups will be based on a prorated basis. Payment for partial days of work will be 50% of bid price for up to 4 hours of field work and 100% thereafter. The Subcontractor shall visit the site as a condition of submitting a bid. On-site safety of the WZTC Subcontractor’s personnel and the work area shall be the responsibility of the WZTC Subcontractor. Required Experience: The Subcontractor shall have a minimum of five (5) years documented experience in the performance of traffic control for NYSDOT projects. The successful bidder must provide references for verification after notification of selection. Contract: The duration of the contract will be on an as-needed basis from approximately April 7, 2023 until December 31, 2024. The project period that requires Work Zone Traffic Control services for two KC survey crews is anticipated to start on or about April 15, 2023 and end on or about December 31, 2024 for approximately 150 workdays (Monday to Friday). It is anticipated that all deployments occur during daylight between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The schedule is approximate and will be coordinated between KC and the Subcontractor. Schedule is subject to holiday embargos as specified by NYSDOT. After selection, the WZTC Subcontractor shall provide a summary of ownership of all equipment necessary to provide the services required. A Foreman must be on-site at all times with a working cell phone and the minimum crew shall be two (2) persons, which can include the foreman.
