Online Q&A Yes Q&A Deadline 01/08/2021 2:00 PM (PST) The work covered under this Contract will take place at the Orange County Sanitation District's ("OCSD's" or the "Sanitation District's"): Plant 2 - 22212 Brookhurst St., Huntington Beach, CA 92646 The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, machinery, tools, supplies, insurance, bonds, permits, licenses, transportation, and other incidentals necessary to complete all tasks and items of work described within Attachment A and within other portions of the Contract Documents and Drawings and as more specifically described below. The work involves Miscellaneous Services The existing Stormwater pumps at Plant 2 are unreliable and require a bypass pump system throughout the duration of the 2020/2021 wet weather season. This project will provide temporary pumps, parts, and services necessary to facilitate a bypass of the existing Stormwater pumps. The system will be installed as soon as the notice to proceed is issued and will remain on stand-by throughout the duration of the wet weather season ending (April 15, 2021). The system will only be operated if a storm event large enough to require the use of Stormwater pumps occurs. The work in this contract includes the items and assumptions listed below. a. Bypass pumps will be provided and operated by the Contractor. The pumps shall meet the following requirements: i. Diesel powered ii. Permitted by AQMD to operate throughout wet weather season defined in this scope iii. Minimum suction lift of 10 feet iv. Each pump will have a peak pumping capacity of 2,800 gallons per minute v. Minimum of 2 pumps - One lead and one lag b. Provide and install all temporary pumps, piping, valves, supports, and appurtenances to complete an operationally available bypass system. i. Contractor to size bypass piping for a peak flow of 2,800 gallons per minute ii. Influent flow is storm water. iii. Existing check valve locations may be used as discharge points as shown in Appendix A-1 v. Isolation valves shall be provided on the discharge of each bypass pump and selected to provide 100% isolation. v. Contractor shall provide OSHA-compliant, temporary safety barriers around all suction and discharge pipe transitions into existing structures. c. Contractor shall be responsible for operating and maintaining the bypass system. i. For bidding purposes, the Contractor shall assume the pumps will be operated once, for a 24-hour period. ii. Contractor is responsible for any required repairs and/or adjustments to the bypass system to provide continuous and reliable operation. iii. Water level within the suction wetwell shall maintain 2 feet of freeboard to surface grade at all times during operation. The Contractor shall have a system in place to monitor and respond to high water levels. iv. Contractor shall be responsible for continuously monitoring the bypass operation and fixing any operational issues that arise.
