Renovation of a municipal facility in New Bern, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

**As of March 23, 2021, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Craven County is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for the repointing of all exterior masonry on the Historic Craven County Courthouse. The project's scope shall consist of the labor and material necessary to Repoint all mortar on the Historic Craven County Courthouse. The work will be separated into three phases. Phase 1 will be for the restoration of the East side of the building. Phase 2 will include the South Side followed by the West side as Phase 3. The phases shall be priced as standalone projects with independent start dates. Restoration and repair of the brick masonry mortar joints on the Craven County Courthouse building. Bids shall be reviewed by the Owner for the furnishing of labor, material and equipment for the complete restoration of the masonry veneer joints at the Craven County Courthouse in New Bern, NC. as specified in the bid documents. Bidders shall be advised of the results. Bids will be received for Single Prime Contracts. The Project consists of the removal and repair of the existing masonry joints in the brick veneer of the existing courthouse building. The work will be separated into three phases. Phase 1 will be for the restoration of the East side of the building. Phase 2 will include the South Side followed by the West side as Phase 3. The phases shall be priced as standalone projects with independent start dates. All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper building license under the State laws governing their respective trades. General Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. General contractors submitting bids on this project must have a license for "Building". Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds, conditioned that the surety will, upon demand forthwith make payment to the obligee upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A Performance Bond and a Payment Bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment - The amount retained shall be 5% of the value of Work until 50% of the Work has been completed. At 50% completion, further partial payments shall be made in full to the Contractor and no additional amounts may be retained unless the Architect certifies that the Work is not proceeding satisfactorily but amounts previously retained shall not be paid to the Contractor. At 50% completion or any time thereafter when the progress of the Work is not satisfactory, additional amounts may be retained but in no event shall the total retainage be more than 5% of the value of Work completed. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
