Prior to 2012 Residential Lot Servicing in Fort Saskatchewan did not include a connection to the Storm Sewer System. Generally, this was not a concern to the City of Fort Saskatchewan (City) due to the sandy ground conditions encountered throughout the City. As development continued localized areas of concern began to materialize with excessive sump pump discharge from newly developed homes, worsened by a rising water table. This is causing damage to both homeowner and City properties. A survey was released in 2015 to homeowners to identify the affected areas and these were found to be in Southpointe/Southfort Heights, Southfort Estates, Sienna and Westpark Valley Pointe neighbourhoods. This project is a continuation of the sump pump retrofit program which began in 2017. To date retrofits have been completed for homes on Sienna Gate, Navajo Lane and Catalina Court. TIMELINE: Request For Proposals for design services and Construction Management was cancelled as of February, 2021. The project will not proceed. Coverage of this report is discontinued.
