Demolition, site work, paving, remodeling, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; for the remodel of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; for the addition of a 4,700-square-foot laboratory facility; for the renovation of a 3,600-square-foot laboratory facility; laboratory facility; laboratory facility; educational facility; and laboratory facility.

Project scope includes an addition of approx 4,700 sqft to the existing Madison College Fort Atkinson building to house an expanded metal fabrication lab. Renovations include approx 3,600 sqft and consist of new welding stations in the existing fabrication lab 114B, the renovation of existing shop 140 for a new computer classroom and metallurgy testing lab, and mechanical room renovations on the existing mezzanine. The addition will be similar construction to existing comprised primarily of masonry veneer cavity walls over concrete masonry units and metal stud infill walls set into a steel building frame with steel bar joist roof structure. Floors are concrete slab on grade with perimeter in-floor radiant heating. Roof is flat steel frame structure with tapered insulation system and TPO membrane roofing. Plumbing, Fire Suppression, HVAC and Electrical systems for the new addition and renovated areas, including a new air handler, make-up air unit, compressed air system, and new boilers to serve the entire facility. The work includes welding equipment, welding exhaust and filtration system, sheet steel storage units, steel storage racks, and an overhead crane in the new fabrication lab. The project will also include exterior work for new walkways, dumpster enclosure, landscaping, stormwater utilities, and parking lot improvements under the base bid scope of work. The building addition and remodeling spaces will be constructed to meet LEED Silver design guidelines.
