Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Lubbock, Texas. Completed plans call for the construction of a 140,000-square-foot, three-story above grade educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

A ground breaking took place on December 15, 2021. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The owner has selected a Construction Manager. A timeline for construction has not yet been established Project Budget: $100,000,000.00 Approx. Construction Budget: $76,000,000 to $80,000,000 Expected Construction Start: February 2022 Texas Tech University has proposed the design and construction of a new Academic Sciences Building in the historic district of the Lubbock campus. The Project, as currently being programmed, totals approximately 125,000- 140,000 gross square feet (sf) in a new 3 story structure, including a basement, located just west of the existing Chemistry building. Planned site utilities will be direct buried to tie into the campus utilities infrastructure The five Departments planned to occupy the new facility are Psychology, Geosciences, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The current program includes classrooms, teaching labs, lab support spaces, research labs, research support spaces, collaboration/student success areas, faculty and teaching assistant offices, and building support spaces.
