Addition to a medical facility in Mindemoya, Ontario. Completed plans call for the addition of a hospital.

https://www.thesudburystar.com/news/local-news/mindemoya-emergency-department-expansion-project-underway Mindemoya emergency department expansion project underway If you need to go to the emergency department, you might want to bring noise cancelling headphones The Manitoulin Health Centre's (MHC) says the renovation and expansion of the Mindemoya emergency department is expected to be completed by late summer or early fall in 2022. "To maintain access to emergency services and continue providing care to our community members, we are required to work through multiple phases of construction," the health centre said in a release. "That includes construction vehicles in and around the site, some delay in traffic areas and at time, a considerable amount of noise." The MHC said it appreciates that additional noise and vibrations can be "disruptive and unpleasant" during a visit to the emergency department. "However, we ask those visiting the facility to be kind and patient, especially to our staff. Be mindful that our staff are also living with the renovations and noise daily," said the MHC. "Every one of our hospital staff have been working very hard, often many more hours than usual, and we ask that they be treated with respect. If you're anticipating a visit to the emergency department in Mindemoya, we would encourage you to bring along noise cancelling headphones to make your stay a little more comfortable." The renovation and expansion project will increase the Mindemoya emergency department by 1,700 square feet. The MHC said it will provide better, more efficient working space for its staff, more privacy and confidentiality for patients, renovation of the chemotherapy mixing room to further meet accreditation standards, a larger chemotherapy suite for staff and patient comfort, and an opportunity for associated treatments and assessments for chemotherapy patients. "In the spring of 2022, you can anticipate seeing spaces starting to shift within the Mindemoya emergency department," the health centre said. "This will include placement of the nursing stations and changes to some of the patient rooms. Please ask our staff for assistance to help you navigate those changes." Julia Fedec, the clinical nurse manager of MHC's emergency department and chemotherapy program, said she is excited to see the progress of the renovation project. "We thank our staff and community members for this patience throughout this time and we are very much looking forward to working in this new space with our teams, patients, and partners," she said. "We are committed to keeping everyone updated as much as possible throughout these renovations."
