Site work for a water / sewer project in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The purpose and objective of this project is to upgrade the existing water and sanitary mains between manhole (MH) 22 and MH19, providing this section of water and sewer with sufficient capacity for current and anticipated future flows. This objective will be achieved by demolishing the existing water and sewer mains and associated manholes and replacing with new, larger water and sanitary lines made of insulated HDPE DR 11. The sanitary portions of the work within this section consist of both gravity and forcemain sections. All concrete MHs will be replaced with new access vaults (AVs), as depicted on the drawings. A bypass system will be required for the lines being replaced during construction. The City of Iqaluit is also requesting pricing for the replacement of MH30 to MH32, including water and sanitary mains and replacement of concrete MHs with new AVs. The MH30 to MH32 portion of the work is provisional at this time and, as such, cost submissions must be considered separately. The MH22 to MH19 costs must be stand alone in the event that the MH30 to MH32 project is not approved. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer 2021 and be completed before December 2021.
