Plans call for continuing to develop construction plans for this project. The intersection of Johnson Avenue NW with 18th Street NW will continue to be a four-way stop after construction is complete. Crashes have decreased since the four-way stop traffic control was installed. As of January 5, 2026, the construction document completion timeline has not been released. A tentative bid schedule for contractors has not been released. Construction is slated to begin in 2026 with completion date of 2027. The project is funded through the Cedar Rapids Paving for Progress program using local option sales tax funds.
