Remove and replace the water distribution piping that serves the East Campground toilet/shower buildings and exterior fountains, check-in/contact station, day use area toilets and exterior fountains, concessions building, the Park Headquarters, Shop, Manager's Residence, Assistant Manager's Residence, and Crew Quarters. Salvage/reinstall or replace exterior water jug fillers, drinking fountains, and combination fixtures. Remove and replace the service laterals that serve all of the buildings and fixtures in the distribution piping replacement areas. Replacement of the distribution system will include necessary valves, vaults, air injection ports, shutoffs, backflow preventors connections to existing piping, and rigid board insulation of the piping in the trench. Two new wells were recently drilled near the Park Headquarters so this project will include installing pumps in them, a pressure tank for them in the shop, and connecting to the new Park Headquarters system. The crossings of US-41 and Fanny Hooe Creek will be abandoned to isolate the Headquarters as a standalone system. It is to be assumed that a minimum of 2" x 2" wide insulation is required along the entire length of waterlines that are open year round (due to depth) and areas where it is shallower will require 4" x 4" or 6" x 4" as shown in the typical details on the plans. Additions for these areas that require thicker insulation will be made with unit pricing provided with the bid. Some rock excavation will also be required. An allowance for an assumed quantity of 60 CY of rock excavation is to be included and additions or deducts from that allowance will be made with unit pricing provided with the bid. This rock excavation shall be performed on any portion of the line deemed necessary.. Directional boring of new lines in 2 locations is also required: under/into the East Campground Toilet/Shower Building and under/into the West Campground Toilet/Shower Building. The boring into the West T/S building is part of Alternate 1 as described below. All the above work items shall include all necessary work associated with the replacements including demolitions, saw cutting, removal, disposal, excavation, backfill, restoration, patching, protection, traffic control, etc. Water service will need to be maintained to portions of the system, during construction, as detailed in the phasing plan. Work will not be allowed to start prior to August 1, 2022. Testing and disinfection of the new water system will also be required. Also, the Owner will be providing an Archaeological Professional to monitor work during excavation of two area of the new waterline and the contractor shall comply and coordinate with the requirements of that monitoring. Those sections of waterline are approximately between stations 2+50 to 7+50 (Day Use Path), 8+50 to 9+50 (Cemetery), 20+00 to 20+75 (Soldier's Quarters), and 32+30 to 34+10 (Range Lightkeepers). Alternate 1 will be for all proposed work shown in the West Campground and Sanitation Station area. This includes removal and replacement of the water line between the West Campground Toilet/Shower building and the Sanitation/filling Station. It also installation of a new sanitary sewer system serving the Sanitation Station. This system consists of both gravity and force main sewer. The system requires a new grinder pump station, power to the station, a new manhole, and a new valve chamber. The complete Sanitation Station will be replaced including concrete, surrounding HMA, waterlines, RV filling station spigots, signage, and dump ports.
