Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Charleston, Illinois. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for the renovation of a educational facility; and 3,500-square-foot educational facility.
As of May 23, 2022, an engineer has been awarded and this project is in the design phase. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Eastern Illinois University in Charleston is a 79-building facility established in 1898. INTERVIEW LEVEL The scope of work provides for upgrading the boiler and controls, including modifying and upgrading Boiler #5, air/fuel delivery and its control systems, restoring it to dual-fuel capability. It will also replace associated equipment, including pumps, condensate receiver, valves, chemical feed, brine tank and fuel oil system and their related controls. The project will replace the roof over the south addition of the steam plant building (3,500 square feet) with new roof membrane, as well as, replace some of the supporting gypsum panels located over the equipment. The project will include enhancements related to the relocation of the control room/office within the steam plant building. A study was completed in January 2020 regarding Boiler #5 and will be provided to teams short-listed for interviews. PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE REQUIRED: $1,500,000 The project will also include replacing pipe insulation, repairing and/or replacing pipe supports, and addressing structural damage and egress issues of the tunnels. Hazardous materials may be encountered. The A/E will need to determine if any components of this project are eligible for a utility company or other energy grant/rebate and will be responsible for preparing and submitting the grant application if the project qualifies for the rebate. A combined MBE/WBE goal of 18 percent is applicable to the A/E team. Some level of participation from both MBE and WBE firms is required to satisfy this goal (this requires including one or more MBE AND one or more WBE firms on the team). A VBE/PBE goal of 2 percent is applicable to the A/E team. The interviews for this project are tentatively scheduled for June 23, 2021. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
