Renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Buffalo, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.

The City of Buffalo is seeking submittals from qualified existing City CDBG, ESG, HOPWA or CoC funded community centers or similarly funded non-profit partners to participate in the 2021 Community Facility Improvements in the City of Buffalo. Communities around the globe are experiencing an unprecedented strain on resources and capacity as a result of COVID-19. This rapidly evolving situation has taxed resources everywhere, particularly among disproportionately disadvantaged communities. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for enhanced facility improvements and programming space updates to support communities most impacted by the crisis. The overall goal of these funds is to assist CDBG eligible community centers, programs, and non-profit organizations to make capital improvements to city and or/ agency owned facilities to improve service delivery. As part of the City of Buffalo's restorative response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Buffalo is allocating resources to this cause to support communities most impacted. The City will assess proposals received that address the goals outlined in the City's Consolidated Plan. This funding will be managed by the City of Buffalo and the selected projects will be funded with HUD CDBG funds, not to exceed $50,000 per project. Projects must meet all HUD CDBG regulations and City of Buffalo policies. To apply: Submit a two (2) page Letter of Interest. The letter must include: The nature of the project-budget (to include preliminary estimates). Number of residents facility/ program serves. Must benefit low- and moderate-income populations in a CDBG eligible area. Supplemental Documentation required for consideration: Documentation of secured funding from all other sources. Proof that a funding gap exists. Have an open and operating facility within the City of Buffalo. Statement about how the proposed plans will make facility and/ or program run more efficiently. Environmental and planning, zoning clearances received, if applicable (or in the process). Confirmation that, with the assistance of CDBG funding, construction can commence immediately. Rules: Funds cannot be used for the following: New build construction projects. Program overhead expenses (food, employee payroll, rent, etc.). Operation and maintenance expenses (repairs, utilities, wi-fi etc.). Repairs or updates to non-program space. Any organization interested in responding to this Call for Projects is required to submit a brief email (see below) to the City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency (BURA), by the above date, that expresses the respondent's intention to submit a response for consideration. The email must include: the legal name of the organization, address, authorized contact person, title, contact phone number, and email address. The full response to the Call for Projects is due by the above date, by email to: Trezz Bailey, Project Manager, City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency: Tbailey@City-Buffalo.Com
