The property is bordered by industrial development to the west and commercial development on the other sides. The property is approximately 3/4 -mile from the 40th Airport Light Rail Station to the west. The building is intended to provide affordable workforce housing in the Gateway Park Metropolitan District. Gateway will expand the inventory of workforce housing in a fast-growing employment sector in the City of Aurora. The City's Housing Strategy projects that over 3,800 new jobs will be added annually; this growth will create a corresponding demand for 2,500 new housing units per year. Supporting and facilitating this balance is a priority for the City. AHA was established in 1975 and owns and manages over 800 units at ten sites throughout the City of Aurora. The mission of the Housing Authority is to develop and promote quality housing while supporting and encouraging economic opportunities leading to self-sufficiency and independence. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. The Gateway program and budget anticipates a 112,641 square foot, four-story building with a slab on grade foundation. The design will include 40 one-bedroom/one-bath; 50 two-bedroom/two-bath; and 10 three-bedroom/2-bath apartment homes. The building will also include a fitness center, community room, lobby area and administrative offices on the first floor
