Construction broke ground on August 12, 2022. The owner has selected a Construction Manager. Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) - New John Mall High School Replacement Project and Demolition of Existing Facilities Huerfano School District RE-1 is soliciting qualified applicants interested in providing CM/GC Services for the replacement of the John Mall High School, located in Walsenburg, CO. The project consists in full replacement of John Mall High School on the adjacent site. Upon completion of the new school building, the existing building will be demolished and outdoor recreational and instructional areas, including other site features will be developed in its place. The project budget is $30,198,650. The School District passed a bond election in 2020 and secured the required BEST Grant matching contribution. Huerfano Re-1 is currently applying for a BEST Grant in order to complete funding for this important project.
