As of December 5 2022 this project is in construction. Prequalified bidders will be required to have the following California contractor's license(s): B License (General Building) Existing neon sign at the Historic Crest Theater in Los Angeles on Westwood Boulevard to be refurbished with repaired painted sheet metal, a new name (NIMOY), new marquee light box letter board, and new 'neon' lights. There will be new LED fixtures and lamps in place of existing incandescent bulbs and new neon tube lighting (in a new configuration from existing) with sequential operations. Neon and LED fixtures and lamps to operate and perform sequentially and independently. Specific work includes the repair and painting of the existing marquee sign, furnishing and installing new lighting fixtures, lamps, backlit letter board with letters; provision of new neon tube lighting, lighting controls and programming of light sequences; and provision of all design and shop drawings to complete the operational marquee. The Historic Crest Theater, to be renamed the UCLA CAP NIMOY Theater, located at 1262 Westwood Boulevard will be fully renovated from a 440 seat movie house to a 299 seat live production theater. The work will include a repair and restoration of selected historic architectural details including a +/- 225' cyclorama mural and the neon lit marquee at the front of the building. Interior renovations include: Renovation of the auditorium, including new seating and theatrical production systems, a light grid and speaker sound system; expansion of lobby and event spaces for pre- and post-performance events; updated concessions and guest service facilities; backstage green room with artist support spaces; a fully refurbished second level with new bathrooms, lounge and balcony; a new elevator, new electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems; new AV and IT integrated systems; new flooring; and finishes throughout. Exterior work includes: renewal of street level exterior to improve public engagement; restoration of existing marquee, blade sign, and façade; a new roof; and new exterior safety lighting. Additional building improvements such that the structure meets UC Seismic Safety Policy minimum safety rating of Level IV) and upgrades in alignment with current code, accessibility, life safety, and energy efficiency standards. Project will meet or exceed title 24 by 20% and achieve a LEED Gold rating.
