Renovation of a municipal facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

- Remove existing built-up roofing, insulation and vapour barrier and replace with new fully adhered EPDM roofing, increased insulation including slope package, coverboard and vapour barrier. Scope of work includes main roof, three penthouses, and two lower roofs. Build-up parapets as indicated to suit new top of roofing elevation. - Existing copper flashing (green) must remain. Building is Designated Heritage Building. Replace all parapet copper flashing sealant. - Four new Roof Top Units (RTU's) are present and cannot be moved/removed/reinstated. New curbs for RTU's 1-4 have been prepared to accept new EPDM roofing. - Other RTU's and rooftop mechanical equipment and services require temporary support, and build-up of curbs/supports to suit new top or roofing elevation. Refer to Environmental Procedures and Commissioning related specifications for prescribed procedures. - A Designated Substance Survey (DSS) was completed (see Appendix A) and identified asbestos in caulking present at the Freight Elevator Room penthouse base flashing location. Contractor must review the DSS. Asbestos abatement must be completed prior to construction, by a certified Contractor who must determine the risk level prior to abatement works. - Penthouse doors and frames will be cut down with new threshold installed to suit new top of roofing elevation. - Base flashings are to be removed and replaced around penthouses, existing parapets, roof penetrations, roof units. - Existing roof penetrations and services must be extended to suit new top of roof elevation. - Remove existing wood walkway and replace with new walkway pavers and additional walkway pavers as indicated on drawings. - Construct steel guards at parapets as indicated on drawings. - Provide insulation package drawing for review two weeks prior to installing roofing. Indicate insulation thickness at doors. Document is available at www.merx.com *Project is complete.
