Renovation of a mixed-use development in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of an educational facility.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities 1.) Area: All floor area to faces of bleachers in closed position 2.) Preparation: Protection of all vertical surfaces and entryways. Sealing of all ventilation units to prevent airborne contaminates. 3.) Sanding: Floor is to be sanded to bare wood using a minimum of four (4) cuts with sanding machine until the surface is completely smooth. a. Additional cuts shall be required if the surface is not completely smooth. 4.) Screening: After sanding, floor shall be screened with 120 grit discs. 5.) Tack: After sanding, the floor shall be vacuumed and tacked to ensure that the surface is completely free from all dust and particles, acceptable for finishing. 6.) Sealer: Application of two (2) coats of Betco EZ Gym Coat n Seal (see attached document) 7.) Game Lines: Paint game lines over sealer coat with product compatible with sealer and finish according to manufacturers specifications a. Game lines include but are not limited to: competition basketball, competition volley ball, two (2) practice volley ball, four (4) practice basketball b. Colors to be determined by Des Moines Public School District c. Screen painted areas with 320 grit disc, followed by vacuum and tack. 8.) Graphics/Logos: Graphics and or logos are to be determined by Des Moines Public School District. Graphics and or logos are to be bid as addendums. 9.) Finish: Application of two (2) coats of Betco SS Gym Coat - water based wood finish (see attached document). 10.)Repair: Replace any damaged floor boards that sanding does not correct visible issues. Any replacement of floor boards must be approved by district Facility Management Director or his designee. 11.)Clean Up: Vendor shall remove all unused materials, tools, equipment, and rubbish. Containers and materials shall be disposed of in accordance with Federal and State laws. 12.)Note: The fact that any item or procedure may not be mentioned in these specifications does not excuse the vendor from supplying that item or procedure if it is necessary for the proper installation of the above, or if it would be considered a standard practice. 13.)Schedule: Vendor shall schedule work with the district Facility Management Director or his designee. a. Work in the building must be complete within 10 days of project start date. b. Floor must be available for competition as directed by Facility Management and mutually accepted by awardee and district personnel.
