Renovation of an educational facility in Chicago, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a four-story above grade educational facility.
Upgrade HVAC System - Science Building - Northeastern Illinois University - Chicago, Cook County. under $ 2,500,000 The scope of work provides for upgrading the HVAC system, including all laboratory fume hoods and the motor controls centers (disconnects) in the Science Building. New controls will need to connect mixing boxes to existing exhaust hoods. Heated vestibule(s) will be constructed at entrances where possible to improve occupant comfort and energy efficiency. This project will retrofit the ventilating system, including all fume hoods in the Science Building with new equipment and controls. The building, constructed in 1972, utilizes a constant velocity ventilation system with reheat coils. There are 39 constant velocity fume hoods operating 24 hours a day throughout the building. The main AHU's are run by VFD's and linked to the university building automation system. They have hot water coils and chilled water-cooling coils. This project will convert the air handling system from a constant supply to a variable volume supply system with reheat and will be tied to the building automation system. Additional work includes the construction of entry vestibules at two locations including demo, new entrance, concrete.
