The City of Manitou Springs is seeking proposals from qualified professionals to design and build a new recreational feature within Wheeler Spring Pocket Park. This project includes the design and construction of a labyrinth feature intended for relaxation purposes. The labyrinth must be aesthetically pleasing and include natural elements. Other features to be installed must include a retaining rock wall and seating areas, and native plantings to create garden areas. Please note that this area has limited water supply so new plants, bushes and trees must be drought tolerant. Additional features to be included but priced separately must include signage to illustrate the purpose of a labyrinth and an element to hide the existing electrical meter and box. DEADLINE FOR QUESTIONS: June 30, 2021. The City reserves the right to obtain clarification of any point in the firm's SOQ or to obtain additional information necessary to properly evaluate a particular SOQ. Failure of the firm to respond to such a request for additional information or clarification may result in rejection of the firm's SOQ. An essential component of this project is public input. The selected contractor will be required to meet twice with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PARAB) and once with the general public for a total of three meetings. Ideally, an initial meeting with PARAB will occur to launch the project and gather preliminary input on designs. Following this meeting, the contractor can then create a couple of design options to present to PARAB and the public at a second meeting for consideration and feedback. The third meeting with PARAB will be necessary to finalize a design prior to construction
