Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Burlington, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
The proposed design is intended to provide the foundation for a future culvert replacement, while providing interim erosion protection to municipal infrastructure and the surrounding private properties. The proposed design was also developed with the intention of adequately addressing all concerns related to flooding, erosion and fish passage that were originally identified as part of previous studies. The proposed detailed design contains the following elements: - A culvert retrofit. - Installation of an armourstone wall. - Construction of grade control structures (armourstone ribs and a boulder weir. - Raising the channel profile to tie into the culvert. - Installation of a vegetated buttress. - Aquatic and terrestrial habitat structures (scour pool, rootwads and habitat boulders).
