Site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Fort Myers, Florida. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

SECTION 1 - CAPE CORAL PARKWAY / DEL PARDO BLVD. INTERSECTION This is the beginning of the project which is the intersection of Cape Coral Parkway and Del Prado Blvd. Major improvements include the addition of extra eastbound and westbound lanes and a barrier separating the new 6-lane section. Improvements are made to the intersection of Cape Coral Parkway and Del Prado Blvd. and multi-modal accommodations are made throughout the corridor. SECTION 2 - BERNICE BRADEN PARK This section of the project includes the section of roadway adjacent to the Bernice Braden Park just prior to the approaches to the bridges on the Cape Coral side of the Caloosahatchee River. This is the only portion of the project that will require right-of-way, which will come from Bernice Braden Park. All efforts were made to avoid impacts to the Visitor Center. SECTION 3 - BRIDGES ACROSS THE CALOOSAHATCHEE RIVER This segment of the project includes the two new bridges that replace the aging structures going across the Caloosahatchee River. Major improvements include an additional travel lane in each direction and separate pedestrian/bicyclist facilities to enhance safety. SECTION 4- COLLEGEPARKWAY/TOLL PLAZA This section of the project includes the segment of the roadway that runs adjacent to Magnolia Pointe Ct., Caloosa Yacht & Racquet Club Dr., and The Landings Golf Course. Major improvements include the addition of extra eastbound and westbound lanes, converting the two-lane frontage roads into two-lane one-way frontage roads and providing a two-lane westbound on-ramp onto College Parkway. SECTION 5 - COLLEGE PARKEAY/MCGREGOR BLVD. INTERSECTION This is the end of the project, which is the intersection of Cape Coral Parkway and McGregor Blvd. Major improvements include converting the exclusive eastbound right-turn lane to a free-flow lane with the addition of a receiving acceleration lane along southbound McGregor Blvd south of College Parkway. The inside eastbound lane is converted from a shared left-turn through right-turn lane to a shared left-turn and through lane. As of April 9, 2026, this project is in the design phase. Construction is expected to start in mid-2027 and be completed in the summer of 2031. *Previous solicitation listed below for reference:* Lee County Board of County Commissioners (COUNTY) is seeking the services of a qualified design consultant (CONSULTANT) to prepare contract documents including plans, specifications, estimates, supporting engineering analysis, calculations and other technical documents for the replacement of the Cape Coral Bridge west bound span, and widening of the east bound span. At the County's sole discretion, the CONSULTANT may transition at approximately the 60 percent design phase into the role of an Owner's Representative in a Design-Build process and act as the COUNTY's Design Criteria Professional and prepare the Design Criteria Package and bidding documents for the solicitation and acquisition of a Design-Build firm. As of September 26, 2023, an issuance of short-listed firms has been released. However, a timeline to select the design firm has not been disclosed. *The contact(s) will not accept phone call inquiries at this time.
