Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the construction of a 18,245-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.

The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of the construction of the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services Amalgamated Station 9 at 1083 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The major components of the Work are as follows: (a) Foundations; (b) Superstructure; (c) Building Envelope; (d) Interior Partitions and Finishes; (e) Mechanical Systems; (f) Electrical Systems; (g) Security Systems; (h) Site work including grading, draining, utilities, services, and hard and soft landscaping and; (i) Demolition of existing library at 955 Cottonwood Rd. and existing fire station at 1083 Autumnwood Dr. (j) Demolition of an existing 400A service to existing lift pump generator building on the property. New service to be routed around the building footprint. The funds available for this contract are $10,000,000.00. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The cost to create a new Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service station is now expected to rise $3 million higher. A city report notes the estimated price to build the facility at 1083 Autumnwood Dr. will reach about $16.4 million, if council approves the overrun. The revised budget would be covered by external debt. The station will replace current Stations 9 (Marion Street) and 15 (already at the Autumnwood site) with one consolidated facility. The existing Autumnwood fire hall and former Windsor Park Library on the same site will be demolished. The report blames the cost hike on supply-chain disruptions and increased material prices, which the city believes are responsible for leading the lowest bid on the project to come in higher than expected. The overrun occurred even though the original scope of the project was scaled back to control costs, the report says.
