The Mercer County Board of Education, hereinafter referred to as the Owner, invites qualified contractors to submit sealed bids for the Renovations to Melrose Elementary School, Sun Valley Elementary School, and Silver Strings Early Learning Center according to Bidding Documents prepared by ZMM, Inc. Architects and Engineers. Deadline for Bidder's questions is 12:00 noon on August 12, 2021. Submit questions by email only to nhs@zmm.com. Bidding Documents can be obtained by one of the following methods: 1. Prime Contract Bidders only may contact ZMM, Inc. Architects and Engineers Attn: Receptionist; reception@zmm.com and request information to access the firm site for the Renovations to Melrose Elementary School, Sun Valley Elementary School, and Silver Strings Early Learning Center projects. Once access is gained, Contractors can download Bidding Documents in the form of PDF files at no charge. Requests for access to documents must be made by email, and those requests received through mail, fax transmission, or other online communications will not receive a response. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, made payable to the Owner, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid, in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each Bidder must be registered with the West Virginia Department of Tax and Revenue prior to the time and date for Receipt of Bids in order for his Bid to be considered. Each Bidder's registration certificate number shall be written in the space provided on the Form of Proposal. All bidders are required to be licensed to perform work in the State prior to submitting a bid for this project as required by Chapter 21, Article 11, of the Code of West Virginia. Each Bidder's Contractor license number shall be written in the space provided on the Form of Proposal. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, the right to waive minor informalities and procedures in bidding, and the right to withhold final award of contract for 60 days after opening bids. The bidder to whom the contract is awarded shall execute and deliver to the Owner within 10 days after the award, and before signing the contract, a Performance Bond and Payment Bond utilizing the bond forms bound in the Project Manual each in a penal sum equal to at least the contract sum and the cost of such bonds shall be included in the bid. Renovations to the following Mercer County Schools: 1. Melrose Elementary School - 2121 Athens Road, Princeton, WV 24739. 2. Sun Valley Elementary School - 5281 Hinton Road, Lerona, WV 25971. 3. Silver Springs Early Learning Center - 703 Cove Street, Princeton, WV 24740 1. HVAC renovations including replacement of rooftop HVAC equipment as indicated on Drawings. 2. Associated work includes the following: a. Selective demolition and reconstruction of interior building construction including floors, walls, ceilings, and roof. b. New aluminum-framed storefront entrances and windows. c. Disconnection of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems from equipment to be either replaced or relocated as indicated on Drawings. d. Protection of existing construction and equipment to remain. e. Provision of new interior construction including metal-framed gypsum board partition walls, new doors, new suspended acoustical panel ceilings where indicated, and room finishes. f. Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical modifications and improvements required for the new air handling equipment. g. New electrical power distribution panels, circuits, and Overcurrent protection. h. Total clean-up of all areas affected by the work of this project.
