Renovation of a municipal facility in La Honda, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 4,500-square-foot, one-story above grade municipal facility.

Replace composite shingle roof on single story building, 4500 square feet (approximately). Location -- Skyline Boulevard at Alpine Road in La Honda -- 21150 Skyline Boulevard, La Honda, CA Roof replacement must occur in September 2021 -- after bat exclusion starting 9/1/21 and before solar panel installation starting immediately after roof replacement. Building location: 21150 Skyline Ranch Road, La Honda, CA. Close to intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Alpine Road in the hills above Palo Alto. See map for location. - Project timing will coordinate with bat exclusion from the building and installation of solar panels on the roof. The bat exclusion will begin on September 1, 2021 and will take about 10 days. Roof replacement will commence as soon as possible after bat exclusion before a solar panel installation contractor starts work on the rooftop. - Contractor will obtain permits required for the roof replacement from Santa Clara County - Remove existing asphalt shingle roof to the sheathing. Dispose of materials in accordance with Santa Clara County waste diversion policies and District Construction and Demolition Waste Diversion Policy 4.08 (Exhibit 6). Waste products must be sorted and taken to facilities for appropriate recycling (asphalt shingle, wood, scrap metal - handled at Zanker Landfill or other locations). - The Contractor shall prepare a waste-stream diversion plan describing how all non-hazardous demolished materials will be handled. Waste-stream diversion plan (WSDP) shall list all materials that will be sent to the landfill, with an explanation of why they cannot be recycled or salvaged. Contractor shall provide receipts for all materials disposed of offsite including a certified recycling center or salvage company. - Contractor is responsible to cover the roof during replacement if there is inclement weather. - Presence of protected species (possibly bats) may alter the work schedule or details of the process and may be subject to a Change Order. - Install new 40-year Class A Fire Resistant dimensional shingles and 30# felt over sloped wood deck. Shingles to be Certainteed Landmark TL or equivalent. Shingle color to be black, brown, or as approved by District representative. Install new hip and ridge shingles. Flat portion of roof over building entrance will not be replaced at this time. New shingles to be installed meeting manufacturers recommendations. Roof surface is approximately 4500 square feet - precise dimensions to be reviewed by contractor. - Existing flashing around stack openings, valleys, drip edges will be replaced unless it is an integral part of the protrusion (solar tube light, solar fan). - Gutters and downspouts will be reused if in good condition Any repairs to sheathing, facia, or other items identified after shingles are removed will be handled as a Change Order. - After project completion, work site is to be cleaned of all roofing material, nails, or other debris created by the roof replacement. -Coordinate timing of work with Project Manager. The building and surrounding area are in use by Midpen staff and will need a plan to prevent conflicts. - Timely installation is required to prepare the site for additional solar panel installation starting soon after roofing replacement.
