The base bid completes the station platform, constructs the east and west platform level entrances providing station access from the Buffalo River Walk. Stairs and an elevator shaft are constructed connecting the station platform to the Yards and Shops building’s second floor. A second-floor corridor is provided leading to a new East Tower providing a station entrance at South Park and Illinois Avenue. The East Tower contains both an elevator shaft and stairs. The East Stair tower requires realigning a portion of South Park Avenue. Construction documents are organized into categories, Hazardous Materials, Civil, Landscape, Architectural, Structural, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunications, Vertical Circulation, and Train Control. Specifications are organized by Construction Specification Institute Divisions coordinated to the bid form. One alternate provides for purchasing and installing two elevators. One each at the East Stair Tower, and Station Platform. NFTA may or may not elect to accept Alternates along with the Base Bid. Work is progressed in three designated work zones tied to time constraints and liquidated damages, as the contract documents specify. Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in the amount not less than 10% of the base bid price. Bid security may be supplied either electronically or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope.
