As of November 22, 2021, an architect has been selected for the project. Per the owner, a firm timeline has not been established, timeline is dependent on funding. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Concord is requesting the submission of a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from design consulting firms to provide professional services for the development of W.W. Flowe Park. The existing WW Flowe Park site consists of 42.6 acres located at 99 Central Heights Drive. Cabarrus County recently deeded the existing park to the City of Concord, in addition to 52.82 acres of undeveloped property across the street, and another 20.76 acres across the railroad tracks (Parcel ID #'s: 5528-78-3964, 5528-67-2976, and 5528- 58-3651). The project scope will begin with a master plan and conceptual design of all three (3) properties, which will be driven by recommendations/feedback from the community, City Council feedback and other focus groups, and the Parks and Recreation Department. The selected consulting firm must have extensive experience and a proven track record with community outreach and public involvement. This process will include public surveys, community meetings, and meetings with key stakeholders and neighborhood groups. From these meetings and with staff coordination, an initial master plan, conceptual design, cost estimates, and funding/phasing strategy will be drafted and then presented to City Council for their review and recommendation.
