Although official designs have not been released, the building will replace the YWCA and Salvation Army on 4th Street in downtown. The school will use stimulus funding from the federal government to pay for the project. The board plans on having advanced STEM career opportunities for students where they will be able to earn an associate's degree. Superintendent Melinda Young says this will also benefit the work force in the city of Steubenville. "What we are so excited about is that we are hoping our students stay in the area so that we can actually continue to grow the area instead of having the brain drain of our young people continuing to move away," she said. The Salvation Army's new location is unknown, but it will continue to operate in Steubenville.
