User Division - Highway Design Approximate Fee - $300,000 Preliminary Engineering & Environmental Services (Lump Sum) Project Funding - State Funds (SPP funds) Project Length - Approximately 2.0 miles The purpose of the project is to improve access to the Wendell H. Ford Airport in Hazard, Perry County, Kentucky. The need for this project arises from substandard conditions of the existing access road, including narrow lanes, little to no shoulders, steep grades, and slope failures. These geometric deficiencies limit fuel deliveries to the airport, especially during winter months when road conditions sometimes become impassable, forcing closure of the road and the airport. The road closure isolates area residents reliant on the road for access to KY-15, the principal arterial road that serves the area. DBE Requirement : None The selected Consultant will be required to review the previously completed planning study, conduct Preliminary Engineering studies to reaffirm or identify appropriate typical sections, utility impacts, environmental impacts, and right-of-way impacts for each studied alternate and provide a dependable cost estimate for each studied alternate.
