The key components of the work are generally described as follows: Supply and install approximately 150 meters of 2,133mm (84'') OD steel casing pipe under the existing Newton Reservoir by microtunnelling, including contact grouting; Design and construction of an approximately 5m x 10m launch shaft east of the existing reservoir and an approximately 6m diameter retrieval shaft west of the existing reservoir, both approximately 12m deep below the existing ground. WSP has provided a indicative design for the shafts and tunnel. The contractor will be responsible for the construction of the shafts and tunnels including all sizing, design, impact analysis, and monitoring, etc Install Corporation supplied twin 914mm (36") OD welded steel reservoir outlet pipes within the casing pipe and related appurtenances (approximately 163m total) Construct new outlet structures within each of the existing two reservoir cells and complete all repairs to the reservoir required for this work. Geotechnical sub-consulting services including modeling, design, monitoring, certification and Quality Control for the Works. Decommissioning of shafts and site restoration following the above works will be part of the scope of works.
