200013. Provide over 1,000 lf of Chilled Water (CHW) distribution piping for existing buildings in the historic section of the Boudler campus. The work will require staging, transporting materials and equipment for bore and open cut excavation pathways resulting in multiple surface-type resotration needs. Date Email Questions Due 9/17/2021 Main objective is to provide the Education building with CHW service as soon as possible with surface restorations to follow in the more appropriate season or as conditions allow. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic control during the work is a primary concern with accomodations to academic and sporting calendars to be considered. Point of Contact/Clarification Name: Agency: Phone: Fax: Email: Andy Jordan, Project Manager and Anne McCollom, Project Coordinator University of Colorado Boulder 303-492-5511 N/A andy.jordan@colorado.edu and anne.mccollom@colorado.edu The base bid consists of the extension of the existing chilled water supply and return systems at the University of Colorado Boulder campus. The base bid extension will connect into existing valves located in the plaza area north of the Ekeley Science Building with 14" Ductile Iron Pipes for both the chilled water supply and return lines. The lines will be installed from the connection at Station 1+00 until approximately Station 5+20. The lines will be installed with a horizontal separation of 12". Tees with blind flanges will be installed at Station 5+20 to facilitate the future extension of the chilled water lines to the west. At Station 5+20, a staging area will be needed to allow for a drill rig along with a water truck and vacuum truck to use horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to install the proposed pipes from Station 5+20 to Station 8+00. This section has many surface features and trees that prohibit the use of traditional direct bury/open trench techniques. The drill rig and associated equipment is anticipated to access the site from Pleasant Street to the north. The Contractor shall replace any damaged sidewalks/landscaping from accessing the site as noted on the demolition plan. An excavation pit is proposed at approximately Station 8+00 to facilitate the pipe connection and pullback procedures for the directional drilling operation. At Station 8+00, a second run of directionally-drilled pipes will terminate at Station 11+00 to the west. From Station 11+00 to the connection into the existing steam condensate lines adjacent to the Economics Building at Station 12+00, the construction is anticipated to be direct bury/open trench with the use of trench boxes. At Station 20+00 (Sta. 8+00), the proposed chilled water lines will tee to the southwest installed using direct bury/open trench. At approximately Station 20+80, a third directional drilling run is anticipated to install the chilled water lines beneath the courtyard between the Hellems Building and the Education Building. Between Station 20+00 and 21+50, the lines can be either 8" DIP as shown or 10" HDPE. From Station 21+50 to the Connection point at the Education Building, the pipes are anticipated to be direct bury/open trench with the use of trench boxes to minimize disturbance to existing landscape planters north of the trench. II. ADD Alt 1 = Work from Station 11+00 to ECON MER 24 (a.k.a. Pill Box) - including the standard CHW interconnections and metering for both MCOL and ECON. III.
