Reference Number 0000392950 The University of Colorado-Boulder Police Department and Parking Services (PDPS) building (482) built in 1992 with a 2006 addition, had a chiller failure in 2023. A temporary chiller is currently being used for one of the condenser units for this cooling season. A feasibility study by Maxson Engineering was completed and the option chosen is to connect the building to the campus-wide chilled water loop. Provide new chilled water piping from new below grade building entry up to Mechanical Mezzanine within the PDPS building to connect to new service from the campus loop (by others). Piping is from the boiler room in the basement to the mechanical room in the mezzanine/3rd floor including replacement of the coil. Anticipated work includes, but is not limited to, demolition, piping AHU modification, controls modification, drywall construction, fire proofing, electrical work, etc. Access to the basement and 2nd floors are secured and will need 100% escort by the Police Department. Crane will probably be needed to remove old equipment from the roof and possibly to deliver new equipment (unless the stairwells can be used to transport equipment) - Regent Dr. is owned by City of Boulder and a ROW permit and coordination will be needed. Roadway shutdown will need to be planned around academic schedule (i.e., Spring Break is 1 week in March). Parking is not available nearby except pssibly one space in Lot 436 (north of PDPS building).). Contractor will need to pay for parking on campus - online HVAC SOC contractors should expect to hire other SOCs companies as the sub-contractors on this project. If not, non-SOC sub-contractors will need to be approved by UCB. Minimum requirements include experience with 24/7/365 secured/escorted environments along with others per attached... The Regents of the University of Colorado Boulder anticipates using a Design/Bid/Build Mechanical Contractor (DBB/GC) approach to project delivery, and requests submittals for pre-qualification of Mechanical Contractors for Construction Project titled UCB000875-PDPSChiller. It is the intent of the Department of Facilities Management to pre-qualify Mechanical Contractors and select a minimum of three (3) to bid this project in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-92-107, 24-103-402, and 24-30-1303 (1) (Q) and in accordance with Section 3-402.01 of the Colorado Procurement Rules. Pre-qualification and inclusion on the selected bidders list will be necessary for bidding on this project. This prequalification process is unique to this project and not withstanding other prequalification by the State Buildings Division and the University of Colorado, all contractors wishing to bid this project must be pre-qualified as defined in this document.
