Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Blaine, Minnesota. Completed plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
As of December 27, 2024 a developer and general contractor have been identified and construction has begun. The City of Blaine is seeking written proposals from qualified architects to assist the Community Development Department in preparation of a master plan for the 105th Avenue Redevelopment Area. The 105th Avenue Redevelopment area is located near the center of Blaine. The area is approximately 25 acres and consists of an older industrial park mainly developed in the 1970s. The plan may also look at utilizing adjacent, state owned property. The City of Blaine Economic Development Authority has been active in acquiring property in the area and currently owns over 8 acres of land. The area is located adjacent to the National Sports Center which has over 4 million annual visitors. The City Council has identified this area as a potential "city core" with the hopes of redeveloping the area with entertainment and commercial uses that serve the residents and guests of Blaine. General planning principles will include walkability, unique experiences, and urban design. Also included in the study will be a 5.66-acre parcel located near Blaine City Hall which is in close proximity to the redevelopment area. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
